Our Vision
To create a spurt in neighborhood revitalization, Village of Veterans AG, LLC proposes a development which encompasses a vision for community development with consideration of existing community resources and needs. The Village of Veterans (“The Village”) is a proposed veteran community including over 275 units of various residential housing, amenities, onsite services, retail, and open space. This development will serve as an important center for veteran residence in the Atlanta area. The “Village” will also create over 200 temporary, part time, and permanent jobs through completion. The proposed development location is being considered on a former school site located within the City of Atlanta encompassing approximately 10 acres.
Description
The Village is a multi-unit, mixed-use community, serving the veteran population in the Atlanta area, located to provide easy access throughout the area. The development includes residential buildings, facilities for veteran services, retail space for veteran entrepreneurs and other physical amenities deemed essential for a viable community.
The development will serve a demand where immediate benefits are recognized, which include: 1) A greater housing variety and quantity; 2) easier access to City services and other destinations, 3) A model of sustainable community development; and 4) spur of community revitalization.
Who We Are
Village of Veterans AG, LLC is a development collaboration lead by Shepherd Group23 Ministries Unlimited, Inc, whose objective is to assist in the redevelopment of the City of Atlanta, specifically through facility redevelopment for housing, community services, and commercial entities.
Atlanta’s background, like many cities, deal with challenges of a strained economy with depleted resources, job and population loss, and other factors that arise within its distressed neighborhoods. However, these neighborhoods attempt to maintain the importance of family and community. For this reason, Village of Veterans AG, LLC intends to help meet the neighbourhood’s desires while improving conditions of distressed veterans. Our objectives include reviving a positive and healthy environment through community and economic development.
Facility Overview
The Village will be an inclusive setting comprised of the following:
- Housing for the Transitioning. A 45-unit, long term supportive rooming facility, which targets homeless and transitioning veterans providing housing and services to meet this demand. Services provided include mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, on-site job training, computer labs, educational programs and more to help develop healthy and independent living skills. $3.5 mil
- Housing for the Disabled. A 35-unit, 1 bedroom apartment facility, that is fully ADA compliant, to help meet the demand for housing for this population. $4.4 mil
- Standard Housing – A 120-unit, 1- and 2-bedroom apartment facility, which provides standard housing for veterans and families. $12.85 mil
- Village Community Center. The community facility is a 12,000 square foot space which fosters a welcoming and dynamic environment of the veteran community. The intent is to engage the Village residents with classes, special events, and social programs. $2.8 mil
- Commercial Center
The commercial facility is a 10,000 square foot space that provides essential needs to the Village residents, while fostering entrepreneurship among Veterans. $2.1 mil
